CareBoard Support

Last updated September 25, 2026

Need help with CareBoard? Email support@thistledew.app. Please include your iPhone model, iOS version, and what you were trying to do. We read every message, usually within a few days.

Please don’t email medical details or your household invite code unless we ask for the code.

CareBoard is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911. For medication questions, ask the prescriber or pharmacist.

Common questions

How do I invite family, and how do they join?

To start a live household, the person starting it needs to be signed in to iCloud and use Sign in with Apple. Then open Household to find the invite code (it looks like CARE-XXXX-XXXX) and send it to family. They install CareBoard, choose to join a household, sign in with Apple, and enter the code. Each person needs their own Apple ID with iCloud turned on.

Anyone who has the code can join and see the board, so share it only with people you trust. An admin can make a new code in Household. The old code stops working, and people who haven’t joined yet will need the new one.

Face ID or PIN lock

Turn the lock on or off in Household settings. Face ID (or Touch ID) is checked by iOS, and CareBoard never sees your face or fingerprint. Your CareBoard PIN is the backup; it isn’t your iPhone passcode. The lock is for this iPhone only and doesn’t sync to other phones. If Face ID stops working, check that Face ID is allowed for CareBoard in iOS Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Other Apps, and use your PIN in the meantime.

If you forget your CareBoard PIN, we can’t reset it, because it’s stored only on your iPhone. Email us and we’ll help you get back in. Deleting and reinstalling the app turns the lock off. You’ll then need to sign in again (a family member who joined may need the invite code). The shared household board stays in iCloud, but changes that hadn’t synced yet will be lost.

How do I leave a household?

There’s no “Leave household” button yet. Ask a household admin to remove you (Household → tap your name → Remove). That ends your access to the shared board. Then tap Sign out in Household, and delete the app if you want to remove the copy on your iPhone. Admins can remove anyone except the household owner.

How do I delete my data?

We don’t have a copy of your board, so we can’t delete it for you, but we’re happy to help. See the privacy policy for details.

Weather isn’t showing

Add the care recipient’s home address in Household → Home address. Type street, city, and state, then tap Save address. Weather alerts cover US addresses. If weather services are down, the rest of the board still works. Try again later.

I’m not getting reminders

Check iOS Settings → Notifications → CareBoard, and the notification choices in Household. Reminders are scheduled on each iPhone, so each caregiver needs to allow them on their own phone. Don’t rely on CareBoard as the only reminder for critical medications.

Privacy

Your board lives on your devices and in iCloud. There is no CareBoard server, and there are no ads or tracking. Read the full CareBoard Privacy Policy.
